Gym Sport 2014
The year one and two syndicates have been learning about innovation. Part of being innovative is solving problems and trying again when something doesn't work out the first time. We all went to Gym Sport and faced many challenges there. The children had to be innovative and problem solve to complete different tasks to get points. They all did really well and had a great time!
Here are some year two stories about the day.

Innovation homework
This term we are learning about innovation. Being innovative is all about coming up with ideas, solving problems, trying things out and being creative. In the holidays, the children were asked to design and make games with their families. Below are some of the creative games that were made by the children and their families in room 28.
This is Kashvi's game. It is similar to snakes and ladders, but much cooler! |
Lucus and his dad made this AWESOME game called coin rugby! |
This is Kaeleem's marble maze. Look out for the holes! |
Phoenix made this great hoop game. You need to get they paper plane through the hoop to score a point. |
Connor made a number fishing game. You need to find the card that matches the number on the dice. |
Jordan and Fiona are trying to get the little stars and hearts through the holes without missing. |
This is Pita's game. You need to get the marbles through the holes. |
This is Akosita's game. You need to knock down the foam pieces with the ball to score points. Well done to all these innovative children and their families!! |

Communicating through the news!
Room 27 have looked at how people use newspaper articles to effectively communicate different ideas or problems. We read the Zoo Olympics book and saw that the reporter had reported the winners of each event all wrong! To fix this mistake we decided to make our own newspaper to correct his mistake and to tell our readers who actually won each event.
We got to practise being a newspaper reporter on this website Communicating Ideas. It taught us about the different parts of a newspaper, like a heading, picture and caption. It showed us how important it is to make sure your story has correct information, interesting ideas and that it needs to tell people something.
